Description
Friends of Berston, the non-profit created to provide stewardship of the historic Berston Field House and its programming, is planning our inaugural fundraiser. The gala’s purpose is to raise much needed funding for the continuation of Berston Field House programs enjoyed by so many Flint residents. We are asking you to partner with other champions of the Flint community to continue the legacy of this institution for the current generation of aspiring athletes, artists and dancers. As you may know, Berston Field House has figured significantly in the lives of outstanding Flint athletes. Most recently, our own Claressa Shields who has proven that she is the greatest in the field of Olympic Women’s boxing—twice! Other athletes who honed their skills inside Berston’s walls are basketball greats such as Trent Tucker, Antonio Smith and the Michigan State Flint Stones—Charlie Bell, Mateen Cleaves, and Morris Peterson who were key players in Michigan State’s 1999 - 2000 NCAA National Championship win. All these athletic greats attribute their success to having Berston Field House as a training and practice haven, and Flint has some awesomely talented youngsters who still need such an inspirational facility to take them to their greatness. We do hope you will join us as well as invest in one of the City of Flint’s crown jewels. We’re in the process of making a great come back, and we count on you to help make it happen.
